Florentine
Dwight T. Porter's Florentine exhibits seventeenth century characteristics brought to England by Inigo Jones, the first to bring Italian and French Renaissance architecture to England. The gracefully contoured cabinet made of alder hardwood combines Palladian Neoclassicism and the more subtle balance and symmetry of the Adamesque style. The African Sedua rails are hand-rubbed to a piano finish. The bold hand-carved blind rails and modified Queen Anne leg embellished with Italian Baroque flowers and scrolling are combined to create a sculpture of grand elegance. Shown in Honduran Mahogany with piano finish, leather net drop pockets, hand-tied braid and silk tassels.
